LoRaWAN - Network Optimization:
LoRaWAN is a very promising technology where it allows us to establish long range networks making it suitable for IoT and other such applications. With LoRaWAN now it is possible to collect data metric/analytics from the sensors scattered across a large area (typically many miles 5-10 Kms or a bit more). The only drawback of LoRa is that although it provides long range its network data rate is far too low. In a way that is sufficient for IoT or such sensor based data, but it is way too less (almost impractical) for any effective communication channel (such as internet browsing, etc). The speed you get is around 1kbps to 2.5kbps depending upon the range, signal strength and so on.

So here is a scenario where few sensors are attached to a LoRaWAN Network. Let us assume in this case few of these sensors are not themselves LoRa capable, hence they are connected to an intermediate LoRaWAN Aggregator. This in turn connected backend to a LoRaWAN Gateway through which it gets internet connectivity.

LoRaWAN Network

We can now improve its performance by incorporating TOFFEE-DataCenter within this hardware infrastructure. Thus improving its total overall network bandwidth. We can now squeeze a lot more data through this long-range network channel than it is possible earlier with LoRaWAN Technology (hardware) alone.

Communication data network standards and data transfer speeds :: Chart ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Here is a complete chart comprising popular communication data network standards and their respective transfer rates. I hope this reference chart will help network engineers and network software developers while performing networking tests and experiments, building WAN/network products, building WAN simulated networks of a specific standard and so on. This may also helps us to track technological advancements of communication data networks.

One of the suggestions Google PageSpeed Insights tool suggested for The TOFFEE Project website is to minify the css and java script files. Minify Script files: When you read online about minification of your web script files, often they highlight file size savings and thus resulting faster download time and better website performance.

TOFFEE Benchmarks :: TOFFEE-1.1.28 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Here is the TOFFEE WAN Optimization benchmarks of the TOFFEE version: TOFFEE-1.1.28. This is the current TOFFEE development version till date (2-Jul-2016). This is a HPC TOFFEE variant meant for high-end custom build servers and high-end desktops (i.e High Performance Computing a.k.a HPC). TOFFEE built this way often needs customized kernel compilation and build such as processor specific and hardware specific tune-ups since it is highly CPU intensive (if not offloaded via Hardware Accelerator Cards).

TOFFEE-Butterscotch is a variant of TOFFEE can be used to save and optimize your Home/SOHO Internet/WAN bandwidth. Unlike TOFFEE (and TOFFEE-DataCenter) TOFFEE-Butterscotch is a non peer-to-peer (and asymmetric) network optimization solution. This makes TOFFEE-Butterscotch an ideal tool for all Home and SOHO users.

TOFFEE-DataCenter WAN Optimization software development - Update: 13-Aug-2016 ↗
Saturday' 13-Mar-2021
Earlier the TOFFEE is intended to work on IoT devices, Satellite Networks, branch office/SOHO deployments. In most cases the users may deploy just one or couple of TOFFEE devices per site. But in the case of TOFFEE-DataCenter, users can scale-up deploying the same in multiple servers in a sort of distributed cluster computing scenario. Besides the core TOFFEE-DataCenter components (such as packet processing engine/framework), I need to do lot of changes in its Graphical User Interface (GUI) too to address these new requirements.
